When you think of "beach home", think 240 Gilbert. Only a short walk from one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, this home will provide you with the comfort you will want after a hard day of exploring the coast. This home has been updated and is in pristine condition. You will walk in and feel right at home. The livingroom has a fireplace and lots of places to sit with your family and friends. A fully equipped kitchen awaits the chef of the family. Each bedroom is roomy and comfortably furnished. Also, there is a gas BBQ in the garage.
Just two blocks away is a fabulous beach which will be perfect for activities such as surfing, running, walking, searching for shells, or just sitting in a beach chair soaking up the sounds of peacefulness as the wave rush up onto the sand.
This area, known as The Beach Tract, has an allure that has drawn people since Morro Bay was founded. It was here that E.G. Lewis, founder of Atascadero, erected the Cloisters Inn on the sand at the end of San Jaciento. He planted the Eucalyptus trees that line the street. If a person purchased a five acre parcel in his "colony" of Atascadero, the first city ever designed for the automobile, you could come to Morro Bay, stay in his Inn, and pick your free lot for a beach home.
In the 1950s, the Beach Tract was re-subdivided and three 40'x60' lots were combined into one large lot. 240 Gilbert was built by a family who purchased most of those lots. They had a few model homes and for the princely sum of $24,000 in 1966, you could have had any of those model homes built on the lot of your choice. Over the years, demand for houses in this area has always been strong.
Even in today's cool housing market, you won't see very many for sale signs.
