Walk to Morro Strand Beach. Views of Morro Rock
411 Tahiti, Morro Bay Vacation Rental

I've always had a warm spot in my heart for Tahiti Street. Back in the '60s, my family built a little house in the middle of the block for my grandmother. My great uncle lived next door. It was a wonderful street, full of friendly neighbors, and now, all these years later, I am amazed at how little it has changed.

This home at 411 Tahiti is perfectly located. There are ocean & Rock views and it is a great house for family and friends to get together for vacations and special times. The home is comfortable and feels warm and cozy yet the rooms are spacious. Be sure to take a walk and explore the neighborhood. Maybe you'll meet some of the folks that make Morro Bay so well known as a place full of friendly people.

Just down the street, within walking distance, is a stop light at Yerba Buena and Hwy 1, that makes it possible to easily and safely walk to the beach. And what a beach it is--lots of sand to the south and to the north is a rocky point full of little pockets and craggy rocks to explore and climb over.

Hugging Beachcomber Drive down on the sand is Morro Strand State Park for overnight RV camping. Take a walk through here and you may be surprised to run into an old friend or neighbor who went camping in Morro Bay without telling you. If you just don't quite feel like mingling & talking, go out to the edge of the surf, take your shoes off, and start walking along the surf line. Just as the waves wash away your footprints, they will wash away your worries. Just put all those important things you just have to do on hold and be in the moment. Just you, the sand and the surf. Talk about renewal!

When you come back to dealing with the material world, there is so much to do. The chef of the family has a full kitchen to prepare great meals for everyone. You can send or take the kids back to the beach where there is surfing, shell collecting, walking, and jogging, and a thousand things kids can think of to do. Or you can go exploring in Morro Bay and the Central Coast.

Don't feel like fixing dinner? Morro Bay has a great selection of fine restaurants. There's a new restaurant opening on the Embarcadero where the Galley used to be. The old Galley has been torn down and a new building put up. The new restaurant is owned by Dave Peter, who started off his work life as a busboy for the old Galley. Go down to the new Galley Bar and Grill and meet Dave and the crew. They promised to deliver the same uncompromising quality meals and friendly service that we got from the Anderson family.

When the only hunger left to satify is the hunger for adventure, take everyone up to San Simeon to Hearst Castle. Maybe you haven't been there yet. You wouldn't believe how many people live on the Central Coast that have never even taken one trip to the Castle. I shake my head everytime I meet one. A tour of the Castle is something everyone should do at least once in their life. It is a highlight for anyone interested in history and/or art. After seeing the Castle, be sure to go on up the coast and see the Elephant Seals. Signs will tell you where to stop and park.

Maybe the kids want to go back to the beach. Let them try something new. When my grandkids are visiting, they love to go boogie boarding in Cayucos. Just a few miles to the north of Morro Bay, you can rent wetsuits and boogie boards and have the time of your life watching the kids ride in the waves by the Cayucos Pier. Maybe you'll feel like joining them!

Whatever you do, I know you will have a great time. Be sure to leave a few remarks in the guestbook so we can share them with you. Happy vacation.
