If you are looking for a first-class home to vacation in, look no further. Everything about this home is top cabin. From the moment you walk up to the front door and look through the home from the massive entry windows to the ocean, you will know you picked the right place to stay.

The home is located in the center of Morro Bay and it is only a short drive down to the beach. You will love this beach. There is a great place to park right up against the sand dunes. Take San Jaciento to the end, turn left and then right on the last street. It is a short walk to the waves. If you like walking or running, this is the place for you. Morro Rock looms in the distance like a giant beacon saying, "run to me, run to me." And you will want to. It isn't that far but it is a wonderful run or walk.

Have someone meet you at the parking lot at Morro Rock, and use that for a base to explore the Embarcadero. Take a ride out to the end of the road near the breakwater. This harbor entrance is one of the most dangerous in the nation. You will admire the skill of the sea captains as they negotiate the sliding waves that can quickly turn a boat the wrong direction just as a huge rogue wave comes out of nowhere to ruin their day.

If you want to get out on the water, you have many choices. Take a dinner cruise around the bay on the Papagallo or the Chablis. If you want to get closer to the water and don't mind getting wet, rent a kayak. Go over to the sandspit and marvel at how it separates the ocean from the bay. It used to go all the way to the Rock and the entrance to the bay was where the road out to the Rock is now. But, mankind likes to fool with mother nature, so they closed off the natural entrance and put in a dangerous one. And, of course, now the sand washes into the bay so it has to be dredged every year or so.

Another way to enjoy the water is take a cruise on the Sub-Sea Tours. All the locals predicted this guy wouldn't last a season, but he is still here providing of one of the most popular experiences on the bay. My favorite way to enjoy the water is to sit at a window table in the Harbor Hut or one of the other great restaurants along the bay shore like Great American Fish Company and the soon-to-reopen Galley Bar & Grill.

After a fine meal, walk out on one of the wharfs and let your eyes explore the bay, the sandspit and the Rock. Think about the long history of this wonderful place. Over 8,000 years ago, native Americans were living all around the bay. There are 17 shell middens on the sandspit itself. After it rains, the shells from these middens glisten in huge patches along the sand dunes.

Today, all these years later, man is still harvesting shellfish and fish from the bay and ocean around it. Go down to the wharf to the south of the Coast Guard, home of another great restaurant, the Dockside. The Tognazzini family serves fresh fish right off the boat and even tells you the name of the Captain that caught it. Maybe you will find Ed Ewing there, unloading his catch. Ed has been fishing here for decades. He has survived the constant governmental attack on commercial fishing with grit and determination. He owned a trawler, but the government said trawlers tore up the sea bottom and bought all the Morro Bay trawlers and fishing permits. Ed convinced them the trawlers could be modified to protect the bottom so, as an experiment of sustainable fishery, Ed is out fishing in one of the Government purchased trawlers. Now he is unloading fish like he used to. Say Hi, but If he seems a little grumpy, just notice the twinkle in his eye. He's having the time of his life.

After a great day checking out Morro Bay and the Central Coast, come back to the house, relax and enjoy the view.

I remember the first owners of this home and how excited they were to buy a home with such a wonderful ocean view. My dad and brother had just finished building it and they sold it to these folks in 1970 for more money than any house they had ever built in Morro Bay--$32,000.

The current owners have recently totally remodeled the home. It oozes tastefulness and luxury. There are few vacation homes on the Central Coast that can compete with the good feeling it gives everyone who enters and they are happy to share this fabulous home with you.

While you are relaxing in the livingroom, the kids can go down to the gameroom and watch the large screen TV or play one of the many games available. Shut the door, and you won't even know they are there if they brought their friends and are a little noisy. Kick back on the comfortable furniture with your friends and family and no doubt someone will say that they could've bought this house or one like it for only $32,000 if only they had listened to their spouse.

As your vacation comes to an end, share your adventures with us. Leave a note in the guest book, or, better yet, leave a comment online. I'm not going to close by saying, "Have a good time," because I know you are going to have a good time. A great time, even. The only question is, how long are we going to have to wait before we see you again?
